We would like to introduce you to each of our team members. This week, please meet Taylor Kirk, Senior Client Associate.
What is your background?
I graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. I then worked as a client service associate at a Raymond James financial advisor’s office in Starkville, Mississippi for three years. During those three years, I earned my Registered Paraplanner® certification, Series 7, and Series 65 while cutting my teeth on the client service role. I learned during this time that to me, client service is quite simple: how would I personally want something handled? In every interaction I have with our clients, I try to deliver the service I, personally, would want to receive.
After my time in Starkville, I joined the Transitions Management team at the Raymond James home office in St. Petersburg, Florida. As a Transition Consultant, I earned the Series 24 and trained financial advising teams leaving their current broker-dealer to join Raymond James’s employee, Independent Contractors, Financial Institution, and Independent Advisors Divisions. I trained on operations, account set up and maintenance, and eventually helped the teams on-site when they made the switch. This job led me to the Norwood Group as they left their previous broker-dealer. After working with Russ, George, Rob, and Kathy during the transition, I knew this was a special group of people with a clear vision and honest, genuine hearts. Even though I was not entirely sure what I was getting into, I trusted this team of doers (my favorite kind of people!) I started as a Senior Client Associate with Venturi in September 2015, one month after Venturi opened its doors. I am so, so happy I made the move to Austin—what a cool place!
What do you look forward to at Venturi every day?
Easy! My absolute favorite part of working at Venturi is the daily interactions I am privileged to experience with our clients and my team. We have the best clients I have ever worked with, and my team makes me proud. We take care of each other, and not a day goes by that I do not laugh until I almost cry.
What are you currently working on or reading?
I am currently reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I almost picked up this book in an airport as my boyfriend and I were headed to Rio de Janeiro, but I ended up grabbing a quick thriller instead. The very next day, my mom told me she was reading The Alchemist and highly recommended it to me. (My mom was a reading teacher for 20+ years and, if I agreed, she would probably do a whole project/assignment with me on this book. No thanks, Mom!) I am really enjoying the book, and I feel like it is one of those I will read several times in the future.
Outside of work, what are you doing?
Outside of work, I am traveling every possible chance I get! In the last year, my boyfriend, Sam, and I had the opportunity to visit Durango, Colorado; Boston, Massachusetts; Tampa, Florida; Mykonos and Athens, Greece; New York City and Buffalo, New York; Ontario, Canada; London, England; Mexico City and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Madrid and Santa Fe, New Mexico; Marfa, Texas; Marrakech, Morocco; Paris, France; a trip around the world with stops in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa and Phuket, Thailand; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. If we are not traveling, we are planning our next adventure! We are currently planning a trip to Australia in late 2018.
Here is a picture of me and Sam when we did a tour of the Phi Phi Islands in Phuket, Thailand. This is by far one of the most stunning, spectacular, and beautiful places I have ever seen!
